WEBSITE MANIFEST

May 29, 2007

My goal is to post interesting blogs about my life experience while creating a community of women who support and promote each other in their life and work.

I have met and worked with so many amazing women through the years and have worked promoting artists and writers and also worked as the elected NY State NOW VP for a year. Through this I have found it hard to get through some politics of organizations and no longer want to work through organizations but create my OWN activism. I promote fantastic artists on a grassroots level here in New York City, such as Ani DiFranco, Toshi Reagon and many more and more to come.

This past year I made a complete U-turn in my life and quit my corporate job and am back in school for International Studies full time, got a divorce, went into the dating world, moved to my dream apartment in the city and all at 28! This has NOT been easy but the best year yet.

On these pages I want to combine all the aspects of my life for better and worse in a way to share common experiences as women that bond us as well as;

~ What’s hot in music, concerts and events
~ Activism!!!!
~ Highlighting women who are working to make this world a better place now and through
history – WOMEN WE LOVE AND WHY!
~ Women and Free Trade friendly business and small business
~ Books and entertainment
~ Build relationships with other fab women doing great things!!!!

I say my thought of feminism is radical because I believe in TOTAL equality. That means as women, we have to give up certain privileges that society has allowed us to be equal to men. This is a simple as, I don’t need a man to give up his seat to me on the subway (although I still appreciate the sentiment) to the idea that I don’t believe women always deserve alimony, which is the norm in many divorce. This is a serious issue that needs more addressing but is an example in this instance. But I am a woman through and through. I love dresses and makeup and know great men. I have never seen men as the enemy but society, although I only give the time to get to know progressive men of the same thought. I have a lot to learn and hope this website helps me better define my thoughts and views of feminism. I will always label myself a feminist because when it comes down to it…. women deserve to be seen as equal to men in the eyes of the law.

So please post your thoughts, ideas, hot events and let’s work together!!!!

Peace,
Jessie

“I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat, or a prostitute.”
